Details for: Large Erlauf reservoir lake round

Brief description

Around the widely visible Ötscher, the landmark of the Mostviertel region, the Ötscher Tormäuer Nature Park was established in 1970. It covers 170 km² and is thus the largest nature park in Lower Austria – and for many, also the most impressive.

The nature park is an inspiring refuge for those who want to draw new strength from the silence of nature. Rich in mysteries and discoveries, it is a place for mountain adventurers. What impresses visitors most is the primeval nature: the interplay of gentle alpine pastures, deep gorges, bizarrely shaped rocks, waterfalls, caves, quiet forests, and magnificent viewpoints.

Description

Mitterbach am Erlaufsee is a place steeped in history, which is also shrouded in the many legends of the Alpine foothills. Walking along these legendary hiking trails, you can immerse yourself in the imaginary world of our ancestors and embark on a journey into the past, while the densely wooded hiking area in the "wild" Mostviertel lets you breathe deeply.Other popular hiking destinations are the Ötschergräben and the Tormäuer with their unique alpine flora, wild and romantic gorges and waterfalls such as the Mira, Schleier, Lassing and Treffling Falls. We recommend the Mitterbach legend trail with a walk along the Erlauf reservoir.

Author's tip

The clever smith Ferraculus and Professor Eisenstein accompany interested young visitors in the form of a fun puzzle rally along the reservoir lake in Mitterbach. The necessary utensils, "explorer pass and magic pen," can be obtained at the kiosk at the beginning of the reservoir lake.
