From the village square of Mitterbach, follow a short section of Seestraße and either start climbing the Gemeindealpe to the right along the Protestant cemetery or, about 500 m from the valley station of the chairlift. You can also take the chairlift to the middle station or to the summit.
Return route options to Mitterbach: via the “Brach” (05), Brunnsteinalm (06A), Zellerrain to Erlaufsee (16b) or from Brunnsteinalm via Erlaufursprung (17/ 2nd Mitterbach legend hiking path) to Erlaufsee – Mitterbach. Descent from Brunnsteinalm to the Vorderötscher refuge and through the Ötscher gorges to Mitterbach. A shorter route and another option is the hiking trail to Erlaufsee, which already runs at an altitude of about 1200 m near the middle station heading downhill.
