Ötscher (summit)

Description

The 1,893-metre-high, striking Ötscher is the landmark of the Mostviertel region. It is also the highest panoramic mountain in western Lower Austria. You can even see 1/3 of Austria from the summit.

On the Ötscher plateau is the 1,849-metre-high Taubenstein and around two kilometers southwest of the Ötscher summit is the 1,552-metre-high Kleiner Ötscher.
The mountain massif is located in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park.

Trails up and around the Ötscher
The easiest ascent to the 1,893-metre-high summit is from Lackenhof with the double chairlift to the summit station, where the Ötscherschutzhaus (1,418 m) is also located. It then takes around 1.5 hours to reach the summit via the wide West-Buckel.

Winter on the Ötscher
Lackenhof am Ötscher is home to the most famous ski area in Ötscherland. A double chairlift leads from the end of the village to the Ötscherschutzhaus, at an altitude of 1,410 m, which is also a popular stop-off point for skiers and ski tourers in winter.
