Hochbärneck lookout post

Description

In the middle of the wonderful hiking paradise in the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, the Hochbärneck lookout tower rises 10 meters into the air. The wooden lookout is equipped with a telescope. From here, you can see all around the Ötscherland and as far as the Hochschwab as well as the Gesäuse and the foothills of the Alps. The opposite "father mountain" Ötscher comes particularly close thanks to the telescope zoom.

A family-friendly, easy circular hiking trail through the Hochbärneck alpine pasture area also leads up to the viewing platform and offers great views of the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park. The start and end point is the Hochbärneck mountain hut. The fragrant flower and herb garden of landlady Erika Pieber invites you to take a break - with an idyllic cow pasture and a great playground for the little ones.

Extra tip:

  • The Almhaus is open all year round and also offers overnight accommodation.
  • Annual festivals at Hochbärneck: Almfest at the end of June and Alm-Kirtag on August 15
