Community Gaming

Description

The hiking village of Gaming lies 430 m above sea level on an old trade route that once led from the Styrian Erzberg over the Grubberg to the foothills of the Alps. The popular summer resort is surrounded by the first "thousand-meter peaks" of the Styrian-Lower Austrian Limestone Alps, the Zürner (1,096 m), the Föllbaumberg (1,014 m) and the Schwarzenberg (1,049 m). The nearby Ötscher, the former Gaming Charterhouse, the Lower Austrian Iron Road and the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park have made the hiking village a popular destination.

This also includes the Ötscher stalactite cave, which is accessible via an adventure trail, and the Ötscherland-Express museum train. In addition to hiking, swimming, mini golf, tennis and cycling, the sporting activities on offer in Gaming also include mountain biking, inline skating, beach volleyball and Nordic walking. Particularly interesting for winter sports enthusiasts: the distances to the ski areas of the Ybbstal Alps, such as the Ötscher or the Hochkar, are short from the hiking village of Gaming.

As one of the nine cadastral communities of the municipality of Gaming, Lackenhof am Ötscher is also part of the country's largest market town in terms of area, which stretches 244 km² from Kienberg to Zellerrain - including Ötscher. The hiking village of Gaming has also become an insider tip for beer lovers in recent years. In addition to the much-visited Bruckner's Bierwelt brewery, the Gaming Charterhouse also offers home-brewed Kartäuserbräu to accompany your meal in the restaurant. The latest attraction is the GeBIERgsweg Gaming with a stopover at the always well-filled beer fountain.
