The loop is ideal for a short, relaxing walk around the natural jewel that is Lake Erlaufsee. The lakeside promenade meanders leisurely along the lake and offers wonderful places to pause for a moment and, if necessary, find a nice spot to rest.
The hike begins at the Erlaufsee bus stop near the manor house and follows the promenade along the northern shore of the lake. Passing the Lindenhof estate, turn left onto Neukoglerweg and follow it to the state highway. From there, follow the forest trail along the southern shore—which runs parallel to the state highway—back to the starting point.

We recommend taking regional bus No. 197 (Mariazell – Mitterbach – Erlaufsee – Mariazell).
The loop trail is also perfect for an idyllic winter walk through a quiet, snow-covered landscape.
